A Tribute to Frank Vickery

To celebrate the life of Frank Vickery who sadly passed away on the 19th June this year, a week before his 67th birthday, The Glamorgan Drama League are hosting ‘A Tribute to Frank Vickery’ at The Savoy Theatre, Tonyrefail, Porth introduced by Gareth Gibbs from The Players’ Theatre.

Gareth, a very dear friend of Franks, will chat with some of Franks friends who not only knew him but who were also privileged to have worked with him in one of his many plays. We will also show clips from, ‘An Evening with Frank Vickery’ in 2015 when Frank and Gareth chatted about how it all started.

Any profit made will be donated to the Drama Association of Wales who Frank often said gave him his start in life with his play After I’m Gone, which went on to win the 'Howard de Walden Trophy' for best play when it was performed by The Players’ Theatre at the British Final of One-Act Plays in 1977. The Adjudicator was Bill Bryden who was the Director of The National Theatre, London.

Please join us to say ‘Goodbye’ to this very special Welsh Playwright who ‘The Stage’ referred to as, ‘The Ayckbourn of the Valleys’. We would love to see you.
