Festivals
Annual competitive festivals are very much alive and well in Wales, with both one act and full-length events taking place across the country.
DAW organises the National Festival of Community Theatre in Wales which usually runs from February to June, culminating in the Wales One Act Final.

The winners of the Wales Final Festival of One Act Plays 2010 are as follows:
- The Elf Oil Trophy – Best Individual Performance – Allan Williams in "Mam" – Loose Cannons
- The Bernleigh Award – Best Presentation – "Ritual for Dolls" – Telstars Theatre Company
- The Maynard Cup – Best Overall Production – "Cotton Girls" – The Unknown Theatre Company
- The Crawshay Cup Best Original Script receiving its premiere in the regional rounds – "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" by Margaret Kynaston
- The Bob McTurk Bursary awarded to the Most Promising Actor aged 18-25 in the regional rounds – Andrew Machin from The Unknown Theatre Company

At the end of June, the winner of the Wales One Act Final represents the country by competing against their English, Irish and Scottish counterparts at the British Final Festival of One Act Plays.
Congratulations to Lurig Drama Group Cushendall (Northern Ireland) on their winning performance of “Melody” by Deidre Kinahan.

The British Final moves around the four countries: the 2008 final was held in Wales, 2009 was in Ireland, 2010 will be held in Scotland, 2011 in England. In 2012, it will be back in Wales.
